Our Beginning
Michael von Behren founded Michael von Behren Builder, Inc. in 1982 after years of working for his father, Robert E. von Behren. The business operated out of the second floor “sun room” of Michael’s home for the first year. As the business grew the office moved into the basement, and in the late 80’s it was moved to a rented office and warehouse space. In 1996, Michael purchased two acres of land and built the 2,200 square foot office, 4,000 square foot warehouse, and millshop that our company still uses today.
Since 1982, the company has grown to include 20 employees, with Michael as President and Cheri as Secretary/Treasurer. Our company offers two full time designers, two job estimators, an office manager, 12 carpenters, and 2 general laborers. We also operate our own mill and cabinet shop which is run by a full time mill carpenter
Our Continuance
Michael von Behren Builder, Inc. believes in the community and its continued development. As a company, we are involved in a variety of community projects and charity events. Michael also takes a role in governmental planning and regulation of the construction industry.
In 1999, Michael von Behren Builder, Inc. was distinguished with two honored awards: the Small Business Owner of the Year from The Springfield Chamber of Commerce, and Remodeling Magazine included them in the “Class of 99” award, which names the Top 50 Remodeling Contractors across the United States. To be acknowledged by both of these organizations is a true tribute to our business success and the dedication of all our employees.
In 2007 Michael von Behren Builder, Inc. will be celebrating 25 years of business. We would like to thank all of our past and present customers for allowing us to be of service, and for trusting us with your home, your most precious investment.
